Yoga gives you a simple way to feel yourself. It is not meant to create pain but to let you know your range of motion/ exactly or truly what you are.
When you are in posture and if you feel pain you hold the breath realise yourself that you are not truthful to yourself. Come back, be stiff. Yoga posture never puts pain in your body. The pain or discomfort comes from life experiences.
